As the world drives toward a low-carbon future, renewable commodities will play a key role to complement or even substitute fossil fuels. Biofuels have been identified by many governments as an alternative “renewable” source of transport fuel. These fuels are derived from biomass or biological materials such as trees, agricultural wastes, crops or grass. They can be replenished rapidly and repeatedly from carbon sources.

Demand has expanded in Europe, Asia and the Americas as nations and corporations push to reduce greenhouse emissions and reduce their environmental footprint.
